Competitive, Contemporary and Pre-Company performance opportunities are available for all levels of dancers at the Academy.
For the Pre-Company Dancer
Our pre-company performance group provides fun and interactive performance opportunities to students of all levels. This group has performed at Holiday Celebrations at Station Square and numerous festivals and parades, including the St Thomas Moore festival, The St Simon and Jude Festival, Mt. Lebanon Halloween parade and Upper St. Clair’s community day.
For The Competitive Dancer
The Academy Dance Company is one of Pittsburgh’s finest competitive groups. To become a member of this group it is by invitation only or by audition. The Academy Dance Company consistently wins national, and regional overall awards. Our student’s technique is the finest in the Pittsburgh area. Our students have been accepted into the Pennsylvania Governors School, received full scholarships to universities and colleges, and have gone on to professional careers in dance and fitness. They also perform for many community service events. Our students who are members of our company are some of the finest dancers in Pittsburgh.
For The Contemporary Dancer and Young Artist
Academy co-director Michelle Dawson, has created the ACOYA (A company of young artists) Dance project. This is a group of young dancers from diverse areas of the city who come together to create and perform original works in performance spaces throughout the city. This is an opportunity to develop contemporary work and to showcase the wide range of talent in the Pittsburgh area. Open to advanced level dancers by audition. If you are interested in working with the Acoya project email us. Our most recent performance was an interactive lecture/demonstration at the Childrens Home of Pittsburgh sharing our Holiday Dance Spectacular with the wonderful kids at the center!
